The Runnels County Historical Commission held is first meeting of the year 2015 at Los Carlos Restaurant in Miles on Saturday, January 10, beginning at 10:40 p.m. Despite the inclement weather, there were 9 members and 2 guests present.
Chairperson, Ruth Cooper called the meeting to order, with a prayer by Roy Rice. The minutes were read by Secretary, Alton O’Neal and the Treasurer’s report was given by Anthony Lange. Both reports were approved by members present.
The RCHC’s new book, “The Organization of Runnels County” sales are doing well. All members were encouraged to help promote the book. If you are interested in purchasing the book, please call Ruth (325-754-5183), Linda (325-365-3145) or Beverly (325-442-4841). Each of them have the books available for purchase. The Commission donated a copy of the book to The City Library in Winters, The City Library in Miles and the Carnegie Library in Ballinger. A copy of the book was also given to the Z.I. Hale Museum.
On February 28, 2015, the Commission will be hosting the Official Texas Historical Marker Dedication for the city of Winters, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This event will be in addition to the celebration of Texas Independence Day. The speaker for the occasion will be announced at a later date. Also, on May 2, The Runnels County Historical Commission will host the meeting of the Edwards Plateau Historical Association at the Rock Hotel in Winters.
The Nominating Committee submitted the following members that are willing to serve as Officers for the Runnels County Historical Commission for the term of 2015-2016:

The motion to accept the nominees, as submitted by the committee was unanimous by all in attendance. The next meeting of the Runnels County Historical Commission will be on March 14, 2015 with time and place to be announced. All meetings of the Historical Commission are open to the public.
Chairperson, Ruth Cooper thanked everyone for coming, thereby showing an interest in the Commission and the history of Runnels County.
