Latest in the Boil Water Notice.
Our turbidity levels were high. This was caused initially by high manganese levels coming from Lake Ballinger. This was due to the Lake getting an immense amount of rain and runoff in a short period of time. The water is decomposing all the vegetation in the Lake and the water is just dirty. This manganese was running thru the filters at the Plant causing high turbity. (e.g. making the water appear to be dirty) The guys at the Plant have worked non-stop since Thursday afternoon to resolve the problem
Our turbity levels are rapidly falling into compliance. We are going to enhance the disinfection with additional chlorine. This is part of the disinfection process.
The next step is to flush the water lines beginning tomorrow. Flushing the lines will remove the unacceptable water from the system. And allow the “good” water into the system. There will be some slack of getting the bad water out, and the new water in.
This process will resolve our Boil Water Notice issues. However, we have to take samples to San Angelo for testing most likely on Tuesday. The earliest we anticipate lifting the notice is Wednesday afternoon.
